Community Connection

Amanda is a lifelong volunteer with strong ties to the Sooke community that she has continued to build over nearly 30 years of community connection and volunteerism. As a teenager, Amanda spent six years as part of the local sea cadet corps Admiral RC Waller where she learned to appreciate the value of community engagement, support, and civic responsibility while building lifelong friendships and connections. As a young adult, Amanda worked with the Sooke Rotary Club overseeing the construction of the Rotary Pier in Sooke.

With community service close to her heart, Amanda joined the Sooke Harbourside Lions where she served for 6 years holding a director position on their executive, and serving 3 years as co-captain for their 24 Hour Relay team raising over $60,000 to send children with disabilities to Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan. From there, she shifted priorities to focus on raising her young family; when her oldest child started school, she turned her passion for volunteerism to the school PAC. Prior to running for her first term as a school trustee, Amanda served 10 years on her children's school PAC executive, the District PAC (SPEAC) executive, and as the local representative to the BCCPAC).

Since being elected as a school trustee in 2022, Amanda has served as the board liaison to the Edward Milne Community School Society, and as a member of the Municipal Leaders Advisory Team (MLAT) alongside her work as a trustee and Board Chair. She regularly meets with other government officials, provincial representatives, and local organizations to hear and promote the needs and priorities of our community.

Amanda takes pride in supporting many community events and engagements, and can often be found supporting events in Sooke, but also throughout the West Shore where she is a proud and regular supporter of youth, arts, sports, and agriculture. During the hockey season, you can often find her cheering on the local minor hockey teams, or running the scoreboard at the Sooke arena with her husband Noah for their son's games.
